Biography
John D Knowles, seaman was the oldest son of Wiliam Harry Knowles and Nancy Ann Symonette.
There are neither marriage applications nor children listed for him.
He ws listed as head of a household on Flemming Street in the Key West Census of 1880. His mother Nancy N.(sic) Knowles, widow and his sister Mama (Mary?) D , age 39 lived with him. In 1885 he continued to live on Flemming Street in a house headed by his mother. His sister Susan lived next door in 1880 and 1885.
He could neither read nor write.
