John Knowles was born in Wye, Kent, England.

John Knowles was born before 22 Feb 1839; he was baptized on 22 Feb 1839 at St Gregory and St Martin, Wye, Kent, England.

He married firstly Lydia Elizabeth Theobald on 17 Oct 1863 in Boughton Malherbe, Kent, England.

Children: James William, Amy Charlotte, Elmer, Mary Ann, John.

Lydia died on 15 Aug 1870. John immigrated to America about 1875 and settled in Utah.

He married secondly Catherine Gurney on 13 Sep 1877 in South Weber, Davis, Utah.

Children: Annie Elizabeth, Mary Lydia, Rose.

After Catherine died in 1883 he married thirdly Alice Perkins on 16 Oct 1886 in Logan, Cache, Utah.

He died on 15 Jul 1909 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and was buried in Ogden City Cemetery, Ogden, Weber, Utah, United States.
