Biography

James Wilton Knowles was born on 16 May 1908 in Alabama, United States. He was the son of Horace Alto Knowles (1880-1951) and Mary (Johnson) Knowles (abt.1880-1964).

He and Frances Hildreth were married about 1933 or before. (Estimate of date based on age of oldest child in 1940 United States Census.) They were the parents of at least 5 children.

James Wilton Knowles passed away on 08 September 1966 in Geneva, Geneva County, Alabama. He was buried in Travelers Rest Cemetery, Samson, Geneva County, Alabama.[2] Mentioned as survivors in his obituary were, "...his widow. Mrs. Frances Knowles, Samson; two daughters, Mrs. Nancy Stanley, Rancho Cordova, Calif., and Mrs. (Possibly Living), Samson; two sons Jim Knowles, Enterprise, and John Knowles, Geneva one brother, Horace Knowles Jr., Lake land, Fla,; and two grandchildren."[3]
