Hi, some of us on the old Knowlton Rootsweb mailing list and now on the Knowlton Groups IO list can give you a great deal of information about Robert, his two wives, and his six surviving children and their descendants. To begin with, he is not the son of Andrew Knowlton, an error found in Stocking's 1897 book and corrected long ago, rather, Daniel Knowlton and Zerviah Watkins. His first wife was Rachel Perry, marriage record in Plymouth Co. MA 1777. Robert was born in CT 1748, married in MA, settled in VT with Rachel, had two children before she died in childbirth; married again, a Pratt suggested--do you have record?--moved to upstate NY about 1800. He had fought in Am Revolution and later in War of 1812. Finally moved to Ohio where he died at son Chauncey's in Mercer Co. after 1831. His first two children were William and Zerviah (who married Buell). The next four were Daniel, Chauncey, Levi, and Lydia (who married McGeorge). Glad to share a Register Report and put you in touch with other descendants.
