Mary is recorded at the mother of Abraham Mitchell (1688-1747)
She passed away in 1692; York County, Colony of Virginia.
Many online pedigree charts indicate that Mary's maiden name was Knowlton. The Connecticut, Town Marriage Records, pre-1870 (Barbour Collection) marriage record between a Mary (Knowlton) Abbe, (who had previously been married to Samuel Abbe) and Abraham Michell showed their marriage date on April 27, 1699. This is AFTER this Mary had died on August 30, 1692 in Charles, York, Virginia. These two people are clearly not the same person.
"The father of Abraham Mitchell Sr. was Abraham Mitchell, 1st., born unknown, died 28 Nov. 1696 in Charles Parish, York Co, VA. married to Mary mnu who died 14 Oct. 1693 in Charles Parish, York Co, VA. She is listed in the Parish records as Mary Mitchell, no maiden name but then some one post on the internet Mary of Virginia then the next thing I knew someone had posted her as Mary Virginia Knowlton with no proof and I have ask for proof but they cannot give any. Now they are posting names for Abraham's parents with out any proof. There are 2 or 3 different names posted for his parents. "[1]

The birth, death and spouse on this record have been changed to the spouse of Samuel Abbe. That person is Mary (Knowlton) Abbe (abt.1654-aft.1715). I have removed these edits.
