Excerpt from The Knowltons of the 1700s in New England (research project from October 2017 on) supporting disconnecting Benjamin from Timothy Knowlton:
The other “sons” of Timothy (41G) and Hannah Storey: Silas (191), Benjamin (193), Timothy (194) and Rosel (195). At the time of the previous post in October 2017 it was speculated that these individuals were either attributed to the wrong family by Stocking, had died without leaving any heirs or were fictitious. Since research was still in progress at that point, it seemed wise to leave it an open question at that time. Timothy and Hannah lived in The Hamlet of Ipswich but The Hamlet had no church of it's own in the early days. Like most residents of The Hamlet they attended the Wenham church. A careful examination of the early Wenham Congregational Church baptismal and other records revealed the baptismal records of Paul (192) and Ephraim (A1) mentioned above but no record of any baptism for a Silas, Benjamin, Timothy or Rosel or any other child of Timothy and Hannah. Not only were there no baptismal records for individuals of these names, but no records of any kind were found for them through all the research. In addition, as was mentioned in Part I, neither they or their heirs are mentioned in Timothy(41G)'s will. The logical conclusion is that all four of them are fictitious. There were no such persons.
