Biography
"... a descendant of the distinguished and royal Knox family. Long before going to England, A.D. 450, his ancestors figured as reining princes in Saxony. In their veins flowed the royal blood of Saxony, Northumberland, England and Normandy. They removed to Scotland, in 1072, and one member of the family was created Earl of Dunbar."
John Knox's father, George Knox, was born in Virginia in 1800. In 1835, George Knox married Amanda Gaw, daughter of John Gaw, both natives of Virginia.
