I was born in San Francisco, CA, and grew up in Bloomington, MN, where my father was a pilot for Northwest Airlines.. After graduating from Bowdoin College, I spent four years as an Armor officer in the US Army, including a tour in Vietnam as an advisor with the 21st ARVN Infantry Division. Upon returning to the US, I was stationed at Ft Jackson, SC, where i met my future wife Pam, who was teaching in a local school. Following my discharge, we were married and I returned to school on the GI Bill. I graduated from the University of SC with an MBA and then began a 27-year career in banking. Since my retirement from Bank of America, Pam and I have enjoyed ocean and river cruising, and spending time with our children and grandson. I've also written a history of the 5th SC Cavalry in the Civil War. We reside in the home of our two Chesapeake Bay Retrievers in Columbia, SC.

Just checking in with a few quick tips:
Free Space pages are wiki pages for supplementing your family history. They can be used to profile anything of significance such as a special pet, a meaningful event, a school you attended, a family heirloom .... They're "anything pages".
Not sure what to include in a profile? Check out our Biography Ideas and Styles and Standards help pages.
Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.
If you have any questions, please ask!
