Philipp Kober died in 1851. Because of the timing of his death, there is a chance he succumbed to cholera. The third cholera pandemic swept across Russia from 1846 to 1860, killing more than 1 million Russians.
[2]
In the 1857 census, his wife Maria Barbara is not listed. Although at 56 or 57 years of age she was young enough to remarry, her son Konrad Schneider was still living in the Kober household in 1857. In fact, he became the head of the household after his step-father's death in 1851, despite the fact that Philipp Kober's brother's family was living in the same household.
