MEMORIAL PHOTOS 1 FLOWERS 2 Funeral services for Raymond W. Koch. 73, of Gaza were held on Saturday, Dec. 26 at 1:30 p.m. at the Bethel Lutheran Church of Sutherland. Mr. Koch passed away suddenly on Tuesday, Dec. 22 at the Baum Harmon Hospital in Primghar.

Rev. LeRoy Riemer officiated at the services. Pallbearers were grandsons of Mr. Koch, Todd Hattermann, Darin Hattermann, Jeffrey Koch, Kelvin Koch, Kevin Walsch and Stephen Koch. Honorary pallbearers were Mark Thiessen, Randall Koch, John Weathers, Bernard McHuhg, David Thiessen, Frank Hedinger, Les Woods, Ronald Clark and Ronald Vander Sluis. The congregation sang two hymns accompanied by Helene Drefke. Mrs. Ronald Vander Sluis and Mrs. John Weathers were in charge of flowers.

Interment was in Waterman Cemetery near Sutherland with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Raymond W. Koch, son of Otto and Sophie Koch, was born in Dissen, Mo. on March 22, 1908. At the age of 10 years he moved to the Sutherland vicinity where he attended school in the Calumet and Sutherland schools.

He was united in marriage to Nora Thiessen of Sutherland on Oct. 20, 1927. After their marriage they lived in the Gaza vicinity where he was employed at the Gaza Elevator for 22 years. They lived in Gaza for 32 years when his wife Nora passed away in 1964. On March 3, 1966 he was united in marriage to Blanche Turek at Paullina and continued to make their home in Gaza. He passed away suddenly on arrival at Baum Harmon Memorial Hospital at Primghar on Dec. 22, 1981 at the age of 73 years and nine months.

He is survived by his wife Blanche of Gaza; two sons, Wilbur of Ute and James of Alta; two daughters, Dorothy (Mrs. George Thiessen) of Hawthorne. Calif., and Norma (Mrs. Edward Hattermann) of Paullina; three stepchildren. Lorraine (Mrs. Frank Nichols) of St. Joseph, Mo., Tony Turek of Arlington Heights. Ill, and Margaret (Mrs. Virgil Hart) of Belvidere, Ill; 17 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and three sisters, Verna Panhorst of Paullina, Evelyn Tigges of Peterson and Arlene Hagedorn of Spirit Lake.

He was preceded in death by his wife Nora and one son, Robert. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Paullina.
