Biography

Jozef and his sons played in a string ensemble for weddings, funerals and other special occasions. They had their own tailoring business, making garments for local people. They also made liquor. This was in Poland, near the black Forest. All the houses surrounded the church in the center of town. If there was a wedding, it would last for a week or so. Everyone would stay and celebrate all that week. When Paulina was nine years old, her father told her mother: "Paulina can learn needlework later, she is going to learn violin." She did, and was still playing it only a few years before she died in her sleep, at the age of 96.
