Vera Amelia Kocher was born on 20 July 1888, in Lykens, Pennsylvania, the daughter and only child of Milton H. Kocher and Mary R. (Long) Kocher.
The 1900 U.S. Census recorded 11-year-old Vera A. Kocher, born July 1888, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in the household of Milton Kocher, age 35, a flanger in an Iron Works, and Mary R. Kocher, age 30. Her parents had been married 12 years, and Vera was their only child.
Vera Amelia Kocher was married to Harry A. Sierer on 18 September 1908 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
The 1910 U.S. Census recorded Harry A. Sierer and Vera A. Sierer, both age 22, in Harrisburg in the household of Milton H. Kocher and his wife Mary R. Kocher, listed as their son-in-law and daughter. Harry was an assistant foreman in an iron works. Harry and Vera had been married two years and had one child, listed in the census record as 13-month-old Mary M. Sierer, granddaughter of the head of household. United States Census, 1910.
In January 1920 the 1920 U.S. Census recorded 31-year-old Harry Sierer as a head of household in East Hanover Township, Dauphin County. He owned his home and was a farmer on a "general farm." His wife Vera A. Sierer was recorded as 36 years old. Their household included two daughters: 11-year-old Marry M. Sierer and 4-year-old Eleanor J. Sierer. 
Vera Sierer died from cirrhosis of the liver on 15 July 1927 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She was buried in East Harrisburg Cemetery in Harrisburg.

The 1900 U.S. Census recorded her as age 11 and born in July 1888; she was reported to be 21 years old at her marriage in September 1908 (indicating birth in 1886 or 1887; was her age exaggerated to avoid having to get her father's written permission?); the 1910 Census recorded her age as 22 (indicating birth in 1887 or 1888); the 1920 U.S. Census listed her as age 36 (indicating birth in 1884); and her death certificate listed her birthdate as July 20, 1881 (meaning she was 45 years old at her death) and her age as 40 y, 11 m, 25 d (consistent with birth in July 1886).
