Most researchers give David as both Cole and Kohl. A specific date is given for his death, but it seems not decided if he died in Pennsylvania or Virginia. This could be that before 1784, both PA and VA claimed Monongalia. But since David died 1809, this should be settled. The postings are still inviting because they consistently give Bethemia Bryan as his wife. This leads to some connection to Daniel Boone.
MyHeritage gives: Bethemia Cole (born Bryan) was born to Captain William Christopher Bryan and Mary Polly Bryan (born Boone). Captain William was born on March 17 1734, in Winchester, Frederick, Virginia, United States. Mary was born in 1746, in New River, Ashe, North Carolina, United States. Bethemia had 16 siblings: Samuel Bryan, Daniel Boone Bryan and 14 other siblings.
Son, David Cole and his new wife were witnesses to the will of Benjamin Jones in 1796 Harrison Co. KY. It is tempting to believe that David Cole was a relative of Benjamin's wife. Benjamin Jones is found in Randolph Co. VA before he moved to Kentucky. The report of John and William Cole in Randolph County and later in Harrison Co. KY is also very inviting for research of David Cole relatives.
Son, David Cole went to Missouri with the son of Benjamin Jones and near the same time as Daniel Boone. A plat of land on the Missouri River, that belonged to Daniel Boone adjoins a plat for David Cole.
It should be noted that there was a will for William Cole, written 11 May 1847 in Barbour Co. WV. among the sons mentioned was a David Cole.
