Biography

Anna Elisabetha Köhler was born about 1806 in Ettingshausen. Her parents are listed on her marriage records as Heinrich Köhler and Anna Margaretha Gerhard.[1][2]

In Ettingshausen, Elizabeth married Johann Caspar Keil on 20 November 1829.[1] They had four children:

  1. Philipp Keil, born in 1831
  2. Johann Caspar Keil, born in 1833
  3. Anna Margaretha Keil, born 25 December 1834
  4. Ludwig Keil, born in 1837

Johann Caspar Keil, farmer in Ettingshausen, passed away on 3 April 1838. He was thirty years, seven months and seven days old.[3] Date of birth calculated from age at death to be: 27 August 1807.

On 13 February, Elizabeth married Johannes Roemer in Ettingshausen.[2] They had four children:

  1. Johannes Roemer, born 7 June 1840[4]
  2. Daughter Roemer
  3. Catharina Elisabetha Roemer, born 14 Ocotber 1844[5]
  4. Catharina, born about 1847 in Buffalo, Erie, New York

Elisabeth passed away in 1873 in Buffalo, Erie, New York.[6] It is not known where she is buried.

  2. Dates and numbers translated by me need to be verified for accuracy. They are colored red.
  3. Birth year of 1806 based on age listed on both marriage records.
    • Age 23 in November 1829
    • Age 33 in February 1840
  4. There is a note about consanguation on the 1829 marriage record for Kaspar Keil and Elisabeth Köhler that needs to be translated.

  8. Sons, Philipp Keil and John Roemer are buried in the same plot at Concordia Cemetery in Buffalo. There are currently no memorials at Concordia Cemetery for Elizabeth, her husband or son, Caspar Keil.
