Ur SBL: Herman Kolthoff blev rådman i Karlstad 1674o var uppbördsman där 1680-81 o borgmästare 1682-91. Han grundade Edsvalla järnbruk i Nor, o genom sitt äktenskap med en dotter till Johan Börjesson(se band 7, s 350) kom han i besittning av Kvarntorps bruk i Nedre Ullerud, som han sålde 1690, samt delar av anläggningarna vid Ransäter och Munkfors i Ransäter, allt i Värmland. Han var far til kyrkoherde Sven Kolthoff (1671-99) i Visnum, Värmland. Dennes bror, brukspatron Olof Kolthoff (1672-1740) på Forsnäs i Alster var svärfar till kanslipresidenten C G Löwenhielm. Deras äldste bror, brukspastronen Henric Kolthoff 1667-1749) på Brattfors i Värmland, hade döttrar, som blev stammödrar för släkterna Hedengren (band 18) och von Hofsten (band 19). En tredje dotter blev fmm till Erik Gustaf Geijer (band 17), vars farfar genom äktenskapet med hennes dotter fick sina besittningar i Ransäter. Söner till denne Henric Kolthoff (1694-1761) var brukspatronen Jonas Kolthoff (1694-1761) på Äsebol i Älgå, Värmland, samt assessorn i kommerskollegiet Herman Kolthoff (1696-1762).

Research Notes

His year of death is listed as 1749 in the Bromanderska samlingen[2] and also by Svenskt biografiskt lexikon, but the date is clear in the books from Brattfors.[1]
