Isaac Komnenos was born about 1007, son of General Manuel Erotikos Komnenos who died in 1020. Isaac made his way as a soldier and in 1057 was leader of a conspiracy against the emperor Michael IV Bringas. Isaac himself was chosen emperor by his followers, proclaimed on 8 June 1057. Michael abdicated and Isaac was crowned in the Hagia Sophia on the 1st of September. In 1059 he fell ill and resigned in favour of Constantine X Doukas. Isaac died in 1060.
He had married Catherine of Bulgaria daughter of Ivan Vladislav. Manuel their son died in his father's lifetime and Maria, his daughter, remained unmarried.
No evidence has so far been found that Isaac had a son called Pedro who settled in Spain. In view of the lack of evidence Pedro has been detached. Please do not re-attach without providing sources for the relationship.
