My mother Patricia (Koon) Miller told me that Floyd was a farmer. They dry-farmed pinto beans in Lindrith, NM. He was a lay preacher. She was 9 years old when he died of a heart attack, and she didn't really know much about him. The memories that she shared with me were few. She remembered that he came home one day with a pot that he had found while out walking near their home. She wanted to play with it, but she wasn't allowed to.
When the family were out hoeing weeds, she joined in with a toy hoe. She got upset when Floyd sharpened everyone else's hoe, but not hers. She made such a fuss that he did sharpen it for her - and then she cut her toe!
Floyd had a gold coin which Pat accidentally dropped through a crack in the floor. He had to pull up the floorboards to retrieve it.
