Martin was born in 1784. He appears in the 1850 Newberry County, SC, census under the name Coon. Since he does not appear after 1850, it is assumed he died between 1850 and 1860.
Martin married Eve Christina Leitner around 1802. She was the daughter of Christian Leitner and widow of John Adam Epting, Jr.
On 22 June 1796, Ursula Koon Eigelberger transferred 100 acres on the waters of Saluda River to Martin Koon. The transfer was recorded as a deed of gift.
