Born in the Northwest of USA and then raised for a dozen years in upper Midwest. Back to being raised and now currently living in the Southwest.
Been into genealogy so long I can not remember exactly when is started. However I became much more interested when the I saw the Prince of Wales marry Lady Diana Spencer. I was 12 but was interested before that.
Raised in a single parent home and a lonely only child. I always wanted to have more family than I had grew up with. Gratefully though, I was raised by my mother and her side of the family, but my mom was estranged from a few important people on her side, I yearned for more. Mom was always upfront about my other side. I was a little under 10 when she talked to me more about my father. She didn't have a lot of information to share or wanted to share especially at that age, but it was enough to fuel the family history interest and intense genealogy passion inside me. I always loved hearing family stories and to be honest anyone's family stories. My maternal grandmother who was interested in family ancestry had a lot of her former husbands family history for her kids. I ask of I can have a copy
I began researching my father's ancestry on and I was surprised to see what connection there were and any stories. My deep desire was wanting to met him. I knew he had married but know nothing of his family or if he had other children. I saw connection and eventually I reached out to a family member though it took a few years for them to discover the written mail (aka) Facebook message I sent.
My heartfelt dream came true...
During a particular trying time with my mom whom has major health issues, I was working as a nanny (my second passion in life) and while my little buddies were sleeping I got on my laptop to do what else, ancestry. While reading email I had gotten over the past day or two I see an email. My heart pounded and my eyes widened and tears welled up. My father emailed me! Crying I happily shared this info with the family whom I care for and they pretty my cried too. They were happy for me. The letter was amazing. short and nervous. But very welcoming and accepting! :)
I learned for sure I had 3 sisters whom I sort of gathered for myself during my research. He was still married to the same woman for years and learned more about his family. I have an aunt and other 4 more uncles to my already one uncle and 2 of 3 aunts (one aunt I don't know, my mother's half sister. And several more first cousins to the four I have on my mom's side. I also have an adult niece and young nephew and niece!
I met 2 of my 3 half sisters and my adult niece in August 2017. It was nervous but its something I won't forget. Definitely overwhelmed. They were welcoming but nervous too. :)
Finally, I traveled to meet him for about a week, after several months of emails and a phone call, in September of 2017. I traveled again to see him for a few more weeks in December 2017. Had a wonderful time! It was indescribably amazing! Many weird similarities. I hope to get a chance in the future to visit him and and his wonderful wife. (Best step-mom ever!)
Hence in researching my dad's side years ago and still going, I discovered many interesting links and especially ancestors. I love researching all titled notabilities. Many relations! Of course we all tie with everyone, course! The famous and the infamous! Peasants and well-to-dos...
Small list of things I love:
I could go on...but that is all for now
Well...I am can be very silly at times and accidentally lock myself out of stuff, like here on Wikitree ;) Little bit klutzy at times doing stuff. Hahaha!
DNA confirmation of between myself Elizabeth Korf to Catherine Anne Korf (1947-2020) are DNA testing confirmed and the maternal parent by 50% on all tests performed from Ancestry and Family Tree regular autosomal and the full sequencing MTDNA testing.
Also DNA confirmation in paternal parent Gary Kaliher who status is private due to still living, but is confirmed by multiple relatives who have tested on Ancestry. And quite a few close or near close cousins. Legal documents of long ago do state him as the biological father of Elizabeth Korf with dna paternity testing.
Updated March 2022: My father's sister just took a test and she too is placed as an aunt and her son as my 1st cousin.

My family has been more sedentary living in northern New England and New Brunswick mostly for many generations.
Interestingly, we went from 9th cousins before the merge, to 7th cousins.

We are 24th cousins 1x removed through Nicolas (Segrave) de Segrave your 24th Great Grandfather and my 23rd Great Grandfather! We have 126 ancestors in common in 30 generations. Distant cousins are such a wonderful resource for finding Euroaristo connections! I almost didn't check the 30 generations when relationship finder found 0 within 15 generations! So happy I did! Welcome to Wikitree Angela Boyer Cortner Boyer-3525
Thanks for volunteering! You are now a full member of the WikiTree community, and can start adding your family. Let me know if you have any questions.
Since WikiTree is different from other genealogy sites, we have a guided tour for new members at New Member How-To. Feel free to work through the How-Tos at your own pace.
Once you add profiles to WikiTree they become searchable and in my experience persons interested in these profiles will contact you and may provide further information to expand your family tree.
Great to have you on board, enjoy, and good luck growing your branches.
Ludwig :)
