Ana María was born in 1868 to Henry Korte and Juanita Metzger.[1] In 1887, she married William Naegelin, a 1st generation German-American like herself.[2] Because he was Lutheran and she was a Catholic, they needed a dispensation to marry and he had to swear to allow her to continue as a Catholic and to baptize and raise their children Catholic. They had at least nine children:
The 1910 US Census lists her husband as a widower.[3] She gave birth to a child in 1909, her tenth child, so it is possible she died due to complications of childbirth.
