Biography

In 1850, Philip Jr was living with parents Philip and Magdalena Kraft in Indiana, Pennsylvania with his three siblings. The family was resident in the household of Philip Sr's parents, Conrad and Christiana Kraft.[1]

On April 12, 1870, Philip married Susannah Genheimer [sic] in Meigs County, Ohio[2] That same year, Philip and Susan would be rooming in the household of Henry Gentleman in Sutton, Meigs County. Philip was employed as a carpenter.[3]

By 1880, Philip and Susanna were farming near Bethel in Shelby County, Missouri with their 3 daughters, Mary S (9), Emma J (5) and Laura A (3).[4] 1890 Census not available, but family history indicates the couple would have 7 children in total: 1) Mary Susan in 1871, 2) Lydia in 1873 & died at age 8 months, 3) Emma J. in 1876, 4) Laura in 1877, 5) Albert H. in 1883, 6) Floyd P. in 1886, and 7) Edna M. in 1892. All were born in Shelby County, Missouri. What is known is that Susannah died in April 1895.

On December 26, 1898, Philip would marry Minnie Plettner at Jackson, Missouri.[5][6] The couple would take up residence in Junction, Kansas with Philip's children (although only Albert and Floyd were still at home) and a son, George G born in 1899 to Minnie[7] Minnie would die in 1904.

On September 7, 1905, Philip married Amelia Yaeck at Junction, Kansas[8]. In 1910, Philip and Amelia were living in Junction where Philip had a general store. The couple had a son Hibbert, born about 1908. Also in residence were Loyd, Clara, Edna and George.[9] The couple would remain in Junction through at least 1930.[10][11]

Philip would die at home in Overland Park in 1933.[12]

Philip Kraft, Jr. ,son of Philipp Adam and Mary Magdalena Hilber Kraft, was born Mar. 5, 1850 in Pennsylvania. He married 3 times. First he married Susannah Gensheimer in 1870 in Meigs County, Ohio. To this union 7 children were born: 1) Mary Susan in 1871, 2) Lydia in 1873 & died at age 8 months, 3) Emma J. in 1876, 4) Laura in 1877, 5) Albert H. in 1883, 6) Floyd P. in 1886, and 7) Edna M. in 1892. All were born in Shelby County, Missouri. His wife died in 1895. He then married his second wife, Minnie Plettner in early 1899 in Kansas. To this union one son was born, George Gideon in Oct. 1899. His second wife, Minnie, died in 1904. He remarried to Amelia Elo Yack in 1905 in Kansas. Amelia brought to this marriage one daughter, Clara A. Yack born in 1891. To this union was born one son, Hilbert E. Kraft in 1907. His third wife, Amelia, died in 1948. His occupation was owner of general merchandise store. Philip passed away July 6, 1933 in Vassar, Osage County, Kansas with burial in the Vassar Cemetery, Osage County, Kansas.
