J. QUINTIN (Bud) KRATZ married VIRGINIA ANGELINE HELEN PATYK on Oct. 30, 1948, in St. Valentine’s Church in Peru, Ill. She was employed by Westclox in Peru in the office of the export department for ten years. She quit Westclox to take care of her husband’s bookwork. Bud, born in People’s Hospital in Peru, obtained his private pilot’s lisence and flew off a small field located north of Peru on Rte. 251. He owned and operated J. Kratz Co. which sold and installed awnings, windows and doors. He also and operated a Gipps Beer distributorship in Peru for ten years. After getting out of the awning business, he bought South Bluff Country Club, which he operated for 15 years. Virginia’s mother, Nellie, and Nellie’s sister, Jennie Stachowiak Dugosh, thought it was a lark to wash dishes at the Country Club because they got to visit with all the patrons. Virginia’s father, John, would help take care of the grounds. After selling the Country Club, Bud bought Maples Supper Club in Peru and ran it for ten years. After selling the Maples he went into a partnership as owner of Stor Galore in Peru. Virginia and Bud celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1998. They both enjoyed playing golf and traveling.
