Biography

Born 26 November 1885 on family selection at Hd. of Lindley near Morgan. Moved with family to Nikalapko Station on River Murray near Morgan. Was 20 years old when his father died at Nikalapko In 1905. Harry went to Adelaide and became involved in photography. The 1909-1910 Directory lists him as a PhotographerA at Erskine St Goodwood Park.He is also listed in partnership in the Directory for 1909 as trading in Morialta Chambers as "Teakle and Kreusler Photographers". Eventually he went to the West Coast where two of his brothers (Ted and Jack) were farming at Mudamuckla near Ceduna. In 1911 he was listed as a Photographer at Denial Bay. By 1912, Harry was set up in business as a photographer at Well St. Streaky Bay (see image). In 1913 he was trading in Bay Rd Streaky Bay.(see image) In 1915 he was listed as a photographer at Waranda Well "Hundred of Chillundie, County Way, 481 miles west of Adelaide". By 1916, he had moved to Murat Bay where was continued his photography. He was the Secretary of the Tennis Club in 1916/1917. Harry was also involved in horse racing and he was killed while competing at Chinta Red Cross Sports Day on 9 October 1918 (see image) Harry was buried at Ceduna Cemetery. Following Harry's death, his photographic Studio in Ceduna, was taken over by Mr. H G (Gwynn) Watson who went on to be a very successful photographer and who took the first photos of the subterranean caves on the Nullarbor Plain.
