William Kroll is Notable.

William Justin Kroll was a Luxembourgish metallurgist. He is best known for inventing the Kroll process in 1940, which is used commercially to extract metallic titanium from ore.^[1]

Wilhelm Justine Adolph Kroll was born on 25 Nov 1889 in Esch, Luxembourg. His parents were Adolphe Kroll and Laure Graftian.^[2] He had a brother Leon Kroll.^[3]

William emigrated to the United States. He applied for US citizenship in Corvallis, Oregon on 4 Dec 1940, indicating that he was 58 years old, born 24 Nov 1889, and not married.^[4]

In the 1950 US census, William J Kroll, age 60 (born about 1890 in Luxembourg) was living in Corvallis, Benton, Oregon. He was single, never married. He was working as a research metallurgist.^[5]

William J Kroll, age 83 (born about 1890) died on 30 March 1973 in Belgium. He was buried in the family plot Kroll-Graftiau in the Notre Dame Cemetery at Luxembourg.^[3]
