Biography

Johann Jacob was the son of Hans Michael Künzer and Anna Margaretha Klein He married Anna Newman on May 10, 1744 in Tulpechocken, Berks County, Pennsylvania. They were the parents of at least nine children:

  • Elizabeth Kinser
  • Mary Martha Kinser
  • Walter Kinser (September 21, 1746-June 01, 1828)
  • Anna Sibylla Kinser (February 05, 1750-October 1844)
  • John Jacob Kinser (1756-July 16, 1816)
  • Michael Kinser (1758-November 1828)
  • Peter Kinser (1761-unknown)
  • George Kinser (1764-unknown)
  • Fredrick Kinser (1766-unknown)

Johann immigrated to America on the ship "Davey" arriving in Philadelphia on Oct. 26, 1738. He was 24 years old when he arrived in Philadelphia and was one of the few immigrants that could write his own name. Nevertheless, his name Kuentzer was "Americanized" to Kinser.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Johann by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Johann:

What is the source for the 22 Oct 1714 birth date? This conflicts with other profiles for this person in which the birth year is 1709 (either 25 Jan or 25 Sept, depending on the secondary source). The cited source in the profile is Clifford R. Canfield, MY GERMAN (English/Irish) ANCESTORS V (Kincer, Kinser, etc. and Allied Family - Newman). The "very long lineage" document just says he was born "about 1714" and cites the above source.

The immigrant's ship arrival may be a clue to his age and year of birth. Some profiles cite Johan Jacob Kintzer/Kinser, who arrived 30 Aug 1737 on the Samuel, at age 28, i.e., born in 1709. This profile cites John Jacob Kuntzler, who arrived 25/26 Oct 1738 on the Davey, at age 24, i.e., born in 1714. Are there sources to directly link either of these men to the one in this profile?

Either Kinser-50 or Kinser-65 has mixed with the family of the other. Both are showing marriage to Anna Newman on exactly the same day and location.

Kinser-50 and Kinser-65 do not represent the same person because: Different parents
