In 1900, her family appears in two census, both in Idaho. In the first one enumerated on June 9-11, 1900, her family rents a home in Idaho Falls, Bingham, Idaho. Her mother's 13-year-old brother, Joseph, lives with the family [4]Then, on June 30th, 1900, they also get counted in New Sweden, Bingham, Idaho, Her uncle doesn't live with them here. But in both cases, her father reports he performs day labor.[5]
In 1901, her sister, Madeline Kunkel was born in Salt Lake, City, Utah, so, sometime between 1899 (when her brother was born in Idaho), and 1901, the family relocated back to Salt Lake.
In 1910, her father is living with his own parents, but Lillian, her mother, and her siblings live with her grandparents (mother's parents) in Salt Lake City, Utah. [6] Her mother, who states she is still married, is owns her own dress making business. Her grandfather works as a streetcar contractor.
Marriage and Family
On June 4, 1914, 18-year-old Lillian Kunkel marries 23-year-old Delbert Nebeker Sr in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah.[7][8]
On July 21, 1924, the couple divorces. She filed with the complain "failure to provide" according to the Salt Lake Tribune, but I haven't found the official divorce paperwork. Her death certificate lists her marriage status as "Divorced," so she never remarried.[1].
Post-Divorce
On December 3rd, 1929, the couple loses their 10-year-old son, Wallace Chance Nebeker to a one month battle with rhuematic fever. [10]
In 1930, she and her daughter, Mary live with a David and Stella Spitz. She is listed as their daughter-in-law, and Mary is listed as the granddaughter. Lillian works as a clerk in the railroad office. [11]
Their other two sons, Delbert Nebeker Jr and Eugene Nebekerlive with their aunt and uncle, however, I'm not sure if the relation falls on the father's or mother's side. [12]
On 6 August 1939, Lillian and a friend were travelling to see her sister. Another car drifted into the left-hand lane while passing another vehicle and hit their car head on. [13] Lillian sustained a skull fracture and was killed instantly. The accident killed one other person. The man driving her vehicle appears to have survived. [14][15][1]She is buried in Salt Lake, Cemetery in Salt Lake City, Utah. [2][16]
Conflicts
Her death certificate [1]lists her middle name as Elizabeth. The 1910 Census lists her middle initial as "E". However, her headstone [2] and her marriage license lists her middle initial as "I"[7] and her granddaughter says her middle name is "Isabel." [17] Since there are conflicts in both records and family report, I use both names in her middle name.
