Biography

Barbara, wife of Christoffel Bley, was probably born at Wingen, and thought to be daughter of Hans Kuntz (Cuntz) , about 1618-20. She is listed as age 74 in her death record, but ages were often exaggerated and given the dates for the birth of her children, she was probably not born before 1618. Barbara was mother of four children baptized at Climbach between 1651 and 1661. In June 1658, she is called "Cath. Barbara, wife of Stoffel Bley in Climbach, when along with Hans Bley, of Wingen, sponsored baptism of child of "Peter Klein and wife Catherina of Nothweyler," at Rumbach, a village about five miles north of Climbach. In no other record is she listed as "Catherina Barbara."
