Israel A. Kurtz died at the residence of his son-in-law, George Drake, on Friday, in the 85th year of his age. He was born in Lancaster, Pa., and served an apprenticeship to the hatting business, at which he worked in West Chester, and other places, for a number of years. About 1845 or 1846 he removed to this city, and continued to work for a time, but as years began to make their mark he was compelled to relinquish his laborious employment. He leaves a number of children, among whom are Mrs. Geo. Drake, Mrs. Jas. H. Beggs and Mrs. E. Murphey to mourn his decease. His remains will be interred in Philadelphia, beside the body of his wife who died some years ago.
