Antoine Lescuyer

Note: His last name gets spelled L'Escuyer, L'Écuyer, Lequier, Lécuier, Lécuyé, Lescuier

Antoine was born around 1644 (18 in 1666, 22 in 1667, 33 in 1681 on censuses), his place of birth and parentage are unknown.

We find the first mention of Antoine L'Escuyer in the Canada colony of New France in the 1666 census, which lists him as an 18 year old domestic servant in the house of Julien Trottier in Trois-Rivières. He is still there in 1667, although he is listed as 22 on that census, so obviously both were estimates of the census takers.

In 1666, Anthoine L'Ecuyer was a domestic of Julien Trottier in Cap de-la-Madeleine. When around 20 years old, June 24, 1668, he bought for 32 livres the concession not yet cleared by Leonardo Besse dit Limousin. Antoine married Anne Rabady, aged 15, in 1673 before the notary Cusson and Marie-Anne, our grandmother, became their first child.
At the age of 70 he was buried in Batiscan on April 30, 1718, while his wife Anne Rabady died at age 90 in 1748.
A concession and enumeration of the lordship of Batiscan, enacted in 1677 by the superintendent Duchesneau and approved by Claude Dablon, Superior General of the Jesuits in Quebec, it is part of the 80 acres of land Antoine Lescuyer in 2 acres with 40 . This inscription is the office of the notary Romain Becquet December 29, 1677.
Marie-Anne L'Ecuyer, wife of ancestor Jacques Tifault.
What do we know of the spouse of our ancestor who came to Canada? Marie-Anne appears to be born in Batiscan in 1673. Antoine her father settled in this parish in 1669, halfway between Champlain and the Batiscan River.
Following repeated requests from settlers, the Lords of Batiscan agreed to these concessions by the first contract before the notary Jacques de La Touche, in Cap de-la-Madeleine. Father Fremin, a signatory to these concessions, yielded to pressures, "Go where you want to take two acres of land fronting on the coast of St-Eloy Batiscan, but know that if you take more than two acres, I you will take away most if I see fit, if you take less, you will be satisfied you ... "
Such permission without further precision would cause problems on surveying concessions.
