William was born in 1888 according to his Army Records. However, I have been unable to locate his birth registration and think he was born in 1889. He was the son of Mary Ellen Lloyd.[1] He passed away in 1914. "He was the son in law of Mr and Mrs Stanton of Whitwell, Rutland, and the husband of Ada Sophia Lloyd, he left three children. He was a fine athlete, particularly in football and boxing, in the latter pastime winning more than one welter weight competition. At the outbreak of war he embarked for Belgium on the 14th August 1914 and was killed by a shell near Ypres".[2]
He married Ada (Stanton) Lloyd in 1911 in London.[3]
