He has a stone at Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton, but there is no death date on it. The virtual memorial indicates a death date of 4 Nov 2014.^[3]

Per this same gravestone, he had a wife named Betty Jones, b 27 August 1928; also no death date.

At the age of 22, he married on 8 March 1947 in Staunton, Bettie Lee Jones, age 18, daughter of Paul Samuel Jones and Besse Elizabeth Evers.^[4]

In 1950, George Jr and Bettie, with no children yet, lived in Staunton. George was a superintendent of road construction for a private construction company.^[5]
