Lois J. Baptiste Labouret was born September 24, 1822, in Paris, a son of of Lois Nicolas Labouret and Magdelein Busson. [1] Lois immigrated to America, where he is found in records as Louis, and Lewis with his surname spelled Labouret, Laborot, Laboret, and becomes more Americanized in the next generation. His son, Charles is found on Find A Grave as Charles LaBrot. [2]
On August 11, 1842, in Perry county, Missouri, Lewis Laborot married Sarah Ann Shoults. [3] Louis Laborot is found on the United States Census of 1850, living in Cinque Hommes Township, Perry county, Missouri, with his wife, Sarah and five children. [4] By 1860, Sarah and Louis are the parents of ten children. [5]
During the American Civil War, Lewis Laborot served in a Calvary Unite of the Fifth State Militia of Missouri. He was 40 years of age. [6]
According to Find A Grave, Louis LaBrot had a second wife, Mary Ann Tucker, born May 4, 1835, in St Francois county, Missouri, a daughter of William Riggs Tucker and Susannah Hutson. They married July 31, 1864 and became the parents of six more children: James Bray LaBrot, Louis Benjamin LaBrot, A William LaBrot, Hanah L, LaBrot, Hester Ann LaBrot, and Joseph Syrus LaBrot.
Louis died prior to the census of 1880 and his widow is listed as Mary A. Labratt, head of household with their six children and her 75 year old mother, living in Liberty, St Francoise, Missouri [7] Mary LaBrot is found on the 1900 Census, as a 65 year old widow, living in the household of their son Joe, in St Michael Township, Madison county, Missouri.
