Howard was born in 1929. He is the son of Earl LaCombe and Florence Lacomb. Joseph Howard Lacombe (my uncle) was always referred to as Howard, using an initial for his first name. This was also true of his father, and his sister T. Elaine Lacombe Towne (my mother)

Howard was an accomplished musician, playing the banjo and horn, while he lived in Watertown, NY on Burchard Street, near his parents Earl and Florence Lacombe, and also his wife's Ada mother, he would often bring his instruments to his sister, Elaines house on Columbia Street, for "jam sessions". Elaine (my mother) played the piano, John Towne (my father) played the drums in bands. They would play all afternoon long! Howard was also a licensed pilot and flew a small engine airplane for pleasure, he was employed in security at the Watertown Airport, before he transferred to Vermont, and worked at the airport there. He would fly his plane, when he came to visit! Howard had a tremendous sense of humor, and would keep everyone laughing.
