United States Census 1880 Event Place Belle Prairie Township, Morrison, Minnesota. Agnes LaFond white, female, single, age 5, estimated birth year 1875 in Minnesota. Living with her parents and siblings. John B. LaFond occupation farmer.

Minnesota State Census 1885 Event Place Brainerd, Crow WIng, Minnesota. Agnes LaFond white, female, age 10, Ethnicity Canadian, estimated year of birth 1875 in Minesota. Living with her parents J.B. LaFond and Elisabeth LaFond. Also, siblings Edith, Felix and Mary.


United States Census 1900 Agnes LaFond Event Place 61 Sixth Street, ED 55 Brainerd City Ward 1, Crow Wing County, Minnesota provides the following information. Agnes Blattner white, widowed, female, born Feb 1874, age 26, owns her own home without a mortgage. Reports her father born in France. She also reports that Freda and babe's (Friederich Blattner) father born in Switzerland.

Agnes' parents, Jean Baptiste Lafond and Elizabeth Greiner, had a home built in Missoula, Montana. After the death of Friederich Blattner, Agnes with the children moved into the home of her parents. Agnes had become acquainted with George Malcom Walker when they both lived in Brainerd, Minnesota. Agnes Lafond Blattner married George Malcom Walker 5 Feb 1903 in Spokane, Washington. Eventually, George adopted both Frieda and Fred Joseph Blattner.

Walker, age 53, owns home free and clear, male, white, married, able to read and write, birthplace Minnesota, father's birthplace Canada, mother's birthplace Vermont. mother tongue English, occupation merchant clothing store working on own account. Wife Agnes A. Walker, wife, white, female, married, age 43, can read and write, Birthplace Minnesota, father and mother's birthplace Canada, mother tongue French. can speak English. Daughter Frieda (Freeda) E. Walker single, white, female, age 23, can read and can write, both parents born in Minnesota, occupation stenographer at courthouse. Son Friederich J. Walker single, white, male, age 20, can read and write, birthplace Minnesota, both parents birthplace Minnesota, occupation Auto Mechanic garage wage worker.

So, I believe that Fred J. Walker, Senior (Born 1899) and Thomas J. Hopkins, Jr., both worked at the garage in Sandpoint, Idaho. (January United States Census 1920). Six months later Thomas J. Hopkins was crushed to death at work.

SANDPOINT.----Thomas Hopkins, 18, of Sandpoint, was fatally injured at the A. C. White lumber mill at Laclede recently. He was at work near a driving shaft, which caught up his clothing, winding it on until he was pulled up to the shaft and thrown around with it until the machine was stopped

Agnes LaFond brother Felix LaFond: Felix LaFond of New Richmond, Wisconsin: Lived in This City. His Sister also lived here for a long time. The Identity of the Man was not Known by the Authorities. It has been learned that Felix J. LaFond, the man who was killed a short time ago by being hit by a train at New Richmond, Wis., was a former resident of this city and had many friends here.

For some time after the accident his identity was not known, but his sister was located, and she came east to identify her brother. She was also a resident of this city at one time and has written friends here regarding the incident. Felix LaFond served as a soldier during some of the worst battles with the Ladrones. He was 28 years of age. Mrs. Blattner is now visiting in St. Paul.
