Biography

Basically interested in French-Canadian genealogy (have a page on GenealogyWise) and the hobby part of genealogy is researching /collecting Michigan Anishnawbe (Chippewa / Ojibwa, Ottawa /Odawa & Potawatomi) genealogies, there are also some families I collect all the male lines from the progeniture, such as HAGAMAN / HAGEMAN / etc., HANKINSON (Thomas & Jane/Jean line of NJ), LALONDE / LALANDE / LALONE, LeROY / LAROY/LARROWAY-AUDY, LILLIE / LILLEY / LILLY, MELOCHE and TREMBLAY / TROMBLY / etc. families

Forgot to mention - interested in the different TURNER families of Mass.

Also have a line extending back into European nobility & royality.

Have been doing genealogy for over 40 years, currently belong to the French-Canadian Heritage Society of Michigan (http://habitantheritage.org/home) and Mid-Michigan Genealogical Society (https://mmgs.wordpress.com/)

Have a group on GenealogyWise covering French-Canadian (and Acadian/Cajun and metis) research - http://www.genealogywise.com/group/frenchcanadiandescendants

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share DNA with James:

Hi James,

About Méridé Tremblay's (Tremblay-1014) profile, sorry, I cannot give a Trusted List access to it, since I am the family keeper of this series of profiles related to my wifes's near family. But if you have more pertinent info to add, I will be glad to include it. Thanks.

Thanks for your comments on Ms Cadotte and her variety of names. To be truthful I can find no information on the Nolan part of the puzzle. There were Nolan's in the area for sure but no one ever links her to them. Those Cadotte's were a prolific bunch no question .

Hi James,

Saw you posted a highly appropriate comment on Philippe David's profile, unfortunately not followed by any action by PMs. Do you have something to share about her? I've had a look at "ancestors" and it's quite depressing. Thanks.

On the question of the week regarding different surname spellings I noticed your post there. I have a similar dilemma with (Lalour) on my tree, who emigrated to Elizabethtown New Jersey America sometime "around" 1695. My 6xGGrandfather William Garthwait(e) married Ann Lalour. I've seen her name spelled as Lalour, Laulor, Lawlor, Laulon, Laubon, Lalor, Lalon and even Lalove. (I've pretty much dismissed Lawlon as an "anglicized" spelling.) Historical books indicate that she was the Daughter of Maximilian Lalour (+etc.), but the timing was off. Eventually, I found two instances where historians mentioned that she may have been Max's Sister rather than Daughter. The various spellings of your surname in the post makes me wonder if there may be a connection. Does this ring a bell?

Hi James -

Do you have any sources for Christophe de Brabançon, his wife Jeanne de Sarrebruck, their son François and Jeanne de Villers? I added a source but I'd like something stronger. I've begun integrating the research by Gagné and Kokanosky to consolidate the Joyeuse line, so, when that is done, I'll be happy to add a few ancestors there.
