Peter LaMere was a Native American and member of the Ho-Chunk tribe.

Year of birth given as 1894 in the 1900 census (#37). In the 1910 census, he is listed as a hired hand working for the Rave family (his brother Oliver married Emma Rave), but his age is listed as 18, which implies that he was born in 1892. However, in 1910, he may have lied about his age to circumvent child labor laws. This discrepancy is decided in favor of 1894 by his grave site, where his tombstone reads 30 Apr 1894. (Find a Grave)

War Record

He saw service in WW I as a technician with the rank of Corporal in Co. C, 134th Infantry, 34th Infantry Division.

He is buried in the Winnebago Cemetery, Winnebago, Thurston County, Nebraska, USA. (Find a Grave)
