DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Steven or other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:

Thank you for completing the merge of the Michel Lavallee duplicates. Jim

Hi Cousin-in-Law! You're related to my late husband (Lavallee-92): 6th cousins twice removed through Jean Lavallee. I just convinced his grandson to move his tree from Ancestry to WikiTree. Unfortunately, Bear didn't have a DNA test done. Maybe I can convince his son or grandson to take one.

Cheers, Liz

Greetings!

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Welcome to the DNA Project: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:DNA

Please make sure each bit of DNA test information is added to the actual test participant's profile, not someone else's like your own. To make cousin connections, WikiTree needs to see the FamilyTree tab. Check that your Privacy on your profile is set to "Private with Public Family Tree" as a minimum. (Living minors should have an Unlisted privacy level.)

Please set your preferences for your Tags Followed to include DNA and other terms on the (G2G) feed: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Following

As you add your family lines and connect to the big WikiTree, you may find new cousins. Use the Relationship calculator to see if you are related to me, Cooper-1 with http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Relationship

I have some work to do. I stripped my family tree down to just my ancestors and their immediate families and racked up 700 potential matches in the database, plus having a file too large to upload in one go, even without all of the descendants. OK, so now I am over to the articles to learn the protocols for merging into this tree.

I am currently exploring. I stripped my Family Tree Maker file down to just my ancestors and one generation of descendants at each level. This is the sort of tree that my nephew and I started working toward a few years ago. If we can produce a global tree, with DNA, this would be quite a resource. If it works the way I think it should, I'm in.
