Geertje Laan was born in 1819 in Middelie, Noord-Holland, Nederland, as daughter of Jan Jansz Laan and Aaltje Laan.[1][2] She married Sijmen de Boer on April 17, 1842.[2] Together they had 6 children:

- Jan Janszoon de Boer, merchant, 39 years of age, living at the Voorhaven in Edam, brother in law of Geertje Laan, who was born in Middelie, living in Edam, married to Simon Janszoon de Boer, peasant and living in Edam, Jan reports that Geertje passed away 22-03-1857 at the house standing at Oorgat in Edam at the age of 38 years.[3]
