Leas Labossiere was born at Saint-Jude on May 26, 1858 and she was baptized there the same day. [1] She is the last child of five and the third daughter for Pierre Labossiere and Marie Bonin. Her mother died the following spring, when Lea was barely ten months old so she would never remember her mother. This left her father with five young children at home. He married again the next year to Leocadie Dupre, so at least Lea had a stepmother.
Sadly, two of her older siblings also died within a few years. She had nine half siblings from her step mother, but tragically, four of these children died young or as infants.
Leas is found in the 1861 Canada census at St-Jude with her father and step mother. None of her siblings have died yet.
