Biography

This profile is part of the Labossiere Name Study.

Leas Labossiere was born at Saint-Jude on May 26, 1858 and she was baptized there the same day. [1] She is the last child of five and the third daughter for Pierre Labossiere and Marie Bonin. Her mother died the following spring, when Lea was barely ten months old so she would never remember her mother. This left her father with five young children at home. He married again the next year to Leocadie Dupre, so at least Lea had a stepmother.

Sadly, two of her older siblings also died within a few years. She had nine half siblings from her step mother, but tragically, four of these children died young or as infants.

Leas is found in the 1861 Canada census at St-Jude with her father and step mother. None of her siblings have died yet.

Their married son and family: Pierre Labossiere, "fils = son", 33; his wife, Leocadie Dupre, 29; five children: Hermine, 9; Celanire, 7; Philias, 5; Napoleon, 4; Lea, 2. [2] No census date. The strange thing about this census, is that this family appears to have been enumerated a second time at St. Ours.

[3] The only difference is in the ages of the children. This is the same family.

No other records have been found for this child.]

Lea Labossiere married Edouard Olivier Durocher on Feb. 5, 1878 at Saint-Ours. [5] He was a son of Olivier Durocher and Julie St-Germain who had married on July 19, 1847 at St-Denis-sur-Richelieu. They had six children, two boys and fours girls, all born at Saint-Ours between 1878 - 1888.
