Mary Albina Labossiere was born July 13, 1890[1] at Pascoag, Burrillville, Providence County, Rhode Island, U.S.A. This is known from the Rhode Island 1905 state census and from a certified copy of her baptism record obtained directly from the Church. She was the second child of six and the second daughter of four for Clement Labossiere and Sophia Lataille. Her parents had her baptized at St. Joseph's Church, Pascoag a week later on July 20, 1890. The sponsors or Godparents were Paul Cormey and Cedulia Lataille. In later life, Albina was known as, "Bina" by her family.
Albina is next found in the U.S. 1900 census [2] with her parents and little sister, Eva, 6. Her older sister, Sophie, has already passed away.
Albina's parents Clement and Sophia are known to have had at least six children, but the first, a daughter, Sophia died young. Her parents, Sophia and Clement are found in the 1905 Rhode Island State Census, [3] [4] living at Burrillville. They have three children at this time; Albina,15 [5]; Eva, 12[6] and Charles, 3.[7] The 1905 Rhode Island State Census had individual record sheets for each person.
The U.S. 1910 [8] census finds Albina at home at Burrillville, RI with her parents and four surviving siblings.
Mary Albina Labossiere married Armand Ely Terrien on June 1, 1914 at St. Joseph's Church, Pasocag in Burrillville, R.I. His parents were Joseph Napoleon Terrien and Marie Ange Auger. They are found in the 1915 [9] Rhode Island State Census living at Burrillville Town, R.I. next door to Albina's parents. NOTE: Armand's surname has been transcribed wrongly as Terrieu, so it was necessary to only search for Armand to find this record.
In the 1920 U.S. Federal Census, [10] they are living at Clinton, MA and now have two sons. Armand and Albina had at least three children.
In the 1925 Rhode Island State Census,[11] two of Albina's sons, Charles and Edmund Terrien are staying with her parents at Pascoag for perhaps a visit or maybe a longer stay. It could be that the grandparents had the boys for an extended stay to help their daughter possibly while they were moving or it may have been the birth of Albina's third child, Alice.
On April 9, 1930 for the 1930 U.S. Federal census, [12] they were living at Worcester City, Worcester, MA. At that time, they had three children; Charles J. aged 14; Edward E. aged 13 and Alice M. aged 5.
