Biography

This profile is part of the Labossiere Name Study.

Therese Labossière was born between 1802 and 1804 likely at Contrecoeur. Her baptism record has not been found, but her marriage record has and she is clearly a daughter of this family. She is probably the third child and third daughter of Jean Baptiste Labossière and Marie Angelique Migneau. She would have three more siblings, but the last one born May 20, 1808 sadly, died at birth and her mother also died from the childbirth and was buried the next day. Their father remarried about three years later and had three more children.

She married Joseph Lippe on Feb. 14, 1825 at Verchères. [1] He was the son Jean Lippe and Marie Chaput. Joseph is the brother of Pierre Lippe, who married Therese's half sister, Sophie in 1834.

They had at last ten children between 1826 - 1845 all born at L’Assomption. One son died as an infant.

Joseph Lippe died at L'Assomption on Sept. 5, 1876. He was 76 years old. Therese died at L'Assmption on Aug. 22, 1892. She was 92. [This record is not available at FamilySearch.org.]

Research Notes

The baptism of her daughter, Marie Therese clearly shows her as a daughter of Marie Therese Gervais, but this is questioned as there is no burial record nor any marriage record for that child and no baptism for a Therese has been found with Angelique Migneau as the mother. As both fathers were Jean Baptiste Labossiere and both mothers had Angelique as a middle name, it is believed the priest got it wrong. It is believed that this daughter is most likely actually the daughter of Jean Baptiste Labossiere and Angelique Migneau. Thus Labossière-126 and Labossière-114 are the same person. The priest made errors with the mother for several other children in this family. The priest has recorded the mother of Labossière-113 and Labossière-115 as Marie Angelique Bourgois. This is definitely an error. The mother’s surname was definitely Migneau, however, her mother’s (or the grand mother's) maiden name WAS Marie Bourgeois Thus Therese Labossière and Therese Labossière are likely the same person.
