13 January 1899, they had a son, Ivan L, Smith. In son Ivan's 1924 marriage record, his parents names are given as Arthur Smith and Jane Lacey, establishing her maiden name. [1]
07 June 1900, Arthur Smith-25, a farmer laborer born MAY 1875 and his wife, Jane-24, born in JUL 1876, lived in Neoga with their son, Ivan L., aged 1, born JAN 1899. The couple had been married 2 years. Jane had given birth to just the one child. All were born in Illinois.
17 April 1901, they had a son, Lewis Ward Smith. Mary J. Lacy, mother.[2]
Jane may have passed away between APR 1901 and the end of 1905, as her husband married Arvilla Goodwin about JAN/FEB 1906.
So far, no death or burial records have been found.
Possibly her family in census? Appears to be a supplemental census taken on the lakefront to include sailors and seamen and their families. 30 June 1880 Census record? In Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois. listed as Mary, daughter of a seaman, Bryan Lacy-35, born in Scotland. Working on the ship: Resolute. Mother, Catherine-26, b. in Prussia. Other children in the family, all born in Illinois: Chas.-10; "Cattie"-8; E. F.-male-aged 3. and Mary, also aged 3. [3]
