Biography

Olivier was born about 1797. He is the son of Jean Baptiste Lafleur and Marguerite Berza. [1]

He fought in the War of 1812 along with his brothers. [2]

He married his first cousin, Celeste Fontenot, on 10 Oct 1820. [3] Together, they had at least 12 children.

He was a wealthy planter with $2000 of real estate listed in the 1850 census.

On 5 Sep 1853, he was murdered at his home by one of his slaves, Jack. [4] A public sale of his possession a few months later included: [5]

- his ~440 acre plantation in Grand Prairie (St Landry Parish, Louisiana), [his brother's widow owned the property to the north of it]
- about 70 acres of woodland property
- about 70 acres of prairie land
- about 850 acres of land in Cavelier's Cove
- 16 slaves
- numerous farm animals
- a cotton gin and press

His wife and son, Olide, were listed as administrators of his estate when it was finalized in 1856. [6]
