Walter Laidlaw and Mary Stobbs married in Kelso Roxburghshire, Scotland, on 10 June, 1825[2].
"Walter Laidlaw Labourer & Mary Stobbs both of this parish, after the publication of the bans [sic] of marriage, in the church of Kelso, were married by the Revd. William Lundie Minister of Kelso in presence of these Witnesses Michael Laidlaw & Peter Gillespie"
Walter died in Chirnside, Berwickshire in 1871, aged 74. His mother's name was not recorded[3].
