Elizabeth was born about 1727. She was married in Scotland according to "Immigrant John Kelso."
After their marriage her husband returned to Virginia and the couple taught school among the Indians in Augusta County. [1]
Everett Earle Stanard article on the Michael Family in the Albany, Oregon, Democrat-Herald mentions that Mary Kelso reported her mother's maiden name was Laird and that the mother came from an old Scottish landowning family. Elizabeth Laird Kelso was her grandmother rather than her mother.
Children on the WeRelate site range in birth from John b 1749 to James b 1780. There are big gaps between the birth dates. No sources. A stated daughter Mary Kelso b 1769 is said to have married a William Morrow. Children stated on this site are John, Joseph, (no George), William, Henry, Mary, Ann b 1775 and James b 1780. [2]

DNA Connections

However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Elizabeth:
Laird-883 and Laird-237 appear to represent the same person because: According to the information I have, both had a son John Kelso who died in Bath County, KY. Also, although one profile has death date 1780 and the other 1810, these are both wild guesses. They are meant to be the same person and Elizabeth, I would assume, died in Monongalia County, Virginia (now West Virginia). I have not seen any primary documentation on Elizabeth. She was said to have been the wife of Joseph Kelso through family tradition that was recorded in Worth S. Ray's periodical "Genealogy and History" in 1946 and again in a newspaper article on the Michael family published in Albany, Oregon in 1925.
Laird-237 and Laird-828 appear to represent the same person because: These are meant to be the same person. Elizabeth's husband was Joseph Kelso. The Laird-237 early birth date is correct because there was another Joseph Kelso, father of Joseph Jr., who was married to Elizabeth Laird. There's an extra generation in the line. John Bennett Bennett-8258 needs to be disconnected from this spouse and merged with John Bennett Bennett-1699
Laird-1776 and Laird-237 appear to represent the same person because: Spouses are the same, although James Kelso son of Laird -237 may not belong to her.
