James Lake was born 4 July 1770 in Pennsylvania.[1]
On 4 September 1801, in Cecil County, Maryland, he married Anne Segars.[2]
James and family are reported in the 1810 and 1820 Census records for Cecil County, Maryland.[3][4]
On 12 February 1823, in Cecil County, Maryland, James had been named Administrator of the estate of his mother-in-law, Mary Segars.[5]
On 10 September 1829, James and Anne received compensation for land originally owned by Anne's brother Francis Segars as a result of damages incurred from construction of a road for use of carriages, waggons, carts or other vehicles for/by the Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland Steam Navigation Company.[6][7]
James continued to be reported in the 1830 and 1840 Census records for Cecil County, Maryland.[8][9]
In 1850, James is living with his son Jesse and family in Middletown, New Castle, Delaware.[10]
James died on 22 February 1856, and is buried in Elk Neck, Cecil County, Maryland.[1]
