Biography

Albert Edward Lake was born on April 13, 1883 Te Puke, Auckland, New Zealand to William Lake and Georgina Foley[1].

He served in the 10th NZ contingent in the South Africa war (Second Boer War) [2] being a Corporal by the end of it.

He married Sarah Ann Burnand on November 29, 1905[3] in Auckland[2] and they had one Daughter

Ruby Evelyn Lake[4] (born 30/10/1906 in Frankton[2])

He was a Master plumber when he enlisted for World War One[2].

He was a Sergeant in 13th Company, 1st Battalion, Canterbury Regiment, NZEF when he was Killed in Action at Ypres, Belgium[2] [5][6].
