Biography

Arleta Mae was the daughter of Charles James Lake (1892-1933) and Oca Mable Katsch (1892-1986) of Ellis township in Hardin county, Iowa. She was born on 7 July 1919. She and her siblings grew up in Ellis township and probably went to the Cottage School with their cousins.^[1][2][3] Her father died in 1933, when her brother Emery was 21 years old, and his ability to provide probably kept the family together. Her sisters were married, Letha in 1934, and Gail in 1937.

She was married to Donald Edward Evans on 12 August 1939 in Iowa. He was the son of Edward Evans (1862-1925) and Isabelle Holland (1876-1931) of Wright county, Iowa.

Donald died in 2007. Arleta died on 11 June 2016 in Des Moines and her burial was in the Otis Grove Cemetery.^[4]
