The first of a series of articles appears in this issue, explaining land use planning in Fulton County by the Fulton County Development Committee and the Fulton Industrial Dev. Association. Facts pointed out show the county�s population increased only 2 percent from 10,387 in 1950 to 10,597 in 1960 and that there were 601 people on public assistance in the county in 1960.
The Fulton County Federation of Women�s Clubs has assumed responsibility to conduct a survey for the American Cancer Society in Fulton County, collecting data for the second year this month.
Steven Trott, a grandson of Mrs. John Spangler, McConnellsburg, was featured in a recent issue of Time Magazine. He is a member of the folk singing group �The Highwaymen� whose hit song, �Michael� hassold more than a million copies.
Marriage licenses were issued at the local courthouse last week to Glenn Marvin Layton, McConnellsburg, and Carol Welsh, Knobsville, and Wayne Guene Lake, Mercersburg, and Myrtle Eliza Hershey, Waterfall.
Esther Warthin and Nancy Taylor, both registered nurses employed in Philadelphia, were visiting their home folks the past weekend.
Mrs. John Spangler suffered a broken foot after falling while shopping in Greencastle.
Miss Eliza Corbin, former resident, is teaching home economics in the extension service in Vietnam.
The annual Halloween parade, sponsored by the McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Co., will be held on October 27.

Births at the Medical Center: a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Grover Mellott of Mc- Connellsburg on October 13; a son to Mr. and Mrs. Russell Gordon, McConnellsburg, on October 14; a son to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Souders of Wells Tannery on October 15; a son to Mr. and Mrs. Myrl Hammond of Fannettsburg on October 15.
A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ott of McConnellsburg at Chambersburg Hospital on October 14.
The newly organized McConnellsburg soccer team won its first game against Clear Spring 4-3, on Sunday. Jack Sipes, Bill Tritle and Dick Ray scored the goals.
The nuclear reactor power plant at Saxton has received a provisional operating license from the Atomic Energy Commission and is expected to be ready for nuclear fueling by November 15.
Douglas Shafer, Wells Tannery, having been recalled into the armed services, left for Fort Eustis, Va., on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Ritchey, Wells Tannery, are the parents of a baby girl born last week in Roaring Spring Hospital.
Carl Grove and Florence Mosebey of Wells Tannery were married on Saturday.
Privates John Clark and Foster Mellott of Needmore are serving in the armed forces at Fort Dix, N.J.
Larry Morton, Ronnie Howell and Dean Strait, along with Tom Morton�s dog �Red,� hunted down a coon weighing more than 20 pounds last Thursday night. �Larger than we thought grew in our county.�
Upper Belfast Township is happy over the new stretch of land between Route 76 and the Sideling Hill Road.
Airman Bruce R. Lake, Warfordsburg, is taking technical training at Greenville AFB, Miss.
