Biography

He was born in Virginia about 1763 in Fauquier County, Virginia and was the son of Ann and Vincent Lake (DNA confirmed) who came from a long line of tobacco farmers.

William Lake first married about 1793 in Fauquier County, Virginia, USA to Jane (of unknown maiden surname, 1781-1843).

William Lake married secondly on 12 Oct 1802 in Fauquier County, Virginia, USA to Frances "Fanny" George. [1]

Sometime before 1820, William Lake and his brother Willis, made the pioneer journey across the Ohio River and settled in Licking County, Ohio, USA. The county was named for its rich mineral deposits and "salt licks" that are loved by farm animals.

He died about 1845 in Licking County, Ohio, USA.

It seems unlikely the Lakes had two sons, born within two years of each other, both surviving with families, named William. We should probably sort out which one is the correct one, or if these two need merged.
